MY FAVORITE MOCHA AND #CAFECORE PAINT COLORS FOR CREATING A COZY SPACE

If you are ready to find your perfect mocha and #cafecore paint COMFORT colors and design tips to create your cozy cocoon for rejuvenation - Keep reading. . .

Our homes are more than just four walls and a roof, I believe they are meant to be sanctuaries in every season so being intentional about how we design can provide us with a haven of self-care and comfort that will carry us through the darkest days of winter.

In fact, being grounded in this rich warm hue could be your best self care, habit stacking strategy for the new year and can feel like a daily hug hub. Imagine this -- sitting in the room shown above sipping on your favorite sumptuous warm beverage during a snow storm while mindfully practicing morning devotions and enjoying the perfect bowl of homemade cinnamon granola (hmmmm, kinda like I'm doing right now).

Defining the Color Mocha:

But before we dive in, let's define the hue mocha in a way everyone can understand - It is a rich and refined shade of brown with just the right amount of cream and cinnamon. Imagine the color of a delicious indulgent coffee treat - a muted pinkish brown, but not the dull and dirty pink beige from decades past. This hue has a cleaner gray base and is more refined.

It seems like this rich, warm hue whisked together with just the right amounts of coffee, dutch cocoa, cinnamon and cream conjures up the feelings of coziness, hope and hugs no matter what the weather is doing outside.

How To Get Your Color Correct:

Not all mocha and brown paint colors are created equal so you'll need to mindfully select the perfect shade with all the perfect ingredients to get the perfect flavor for your specific needs -- after all, interior design is about embracing your individuality and then balancing it for enduring appeal. This tricky task of defining who you actually are when there isn’t an agreed-upon standard can be really complex . As a result, we often settle and then feel regret at the reveal when something looks off. That's why I start each project using design concepts of decoded color schemes that allow my clients to gain color clarity and confidence before we start so they can clearly communicate their own, "I know it when I see it" vibe accurately, easily and avoid expensive surprises.

I researched over 40 mocha paint colors, then used my software to test and decode the paint colors.

There were lots of mocha paint shades to consider, like Benjamin Moore's Cappuccino Froth, Mocha Cream, Whipped Mocha, Espresso Bark, Cafe Au Lait, Interlude, Cedar Key, Ballet White, Seapearl, Lime White, Mountain Peak White, Tyler Gray, Etiquette, Canvas Tan, Chocolate Mousse, Espresso and Barista (I'm a curious creative). I also tested Sherwin Williams paint colors like Renwick Beige, Chocolate Powder, Latte, Double Latte and Iced Mocha.

Above are the results of the best mocha paint colors from my research and testing - which one is your favorite? How would you improve it?

Remember your paint color is significant but it is just one of the building blocks in your room - it is the whole picture that creates a beautiful composition.

More Paint Tips to Help you Hone In On the Perfect Hue:

  • always research your paint colors first to determine what other hues are added to make the paint color unique. This will save you from buying a paint color that won't meet your design aims. I use a scientific approach to establish design boundaries early in the process because pretty can either be a pathway or a prison.

  • always test paint colors in the room with other design details & different lighting to make sure nothing feels off.

  • make adjustments -- like lighter or darker or less red and more gray -- because color reads differently as it expands onto larger surfaces and you want to avoid 'unhappy' surprises.

Design Tips to Make It Your Own:

Creating comfortable, cozy hubs in a home can be a great way to invite relaxation, reduce anxiety and encourage us to get out of bed, enjoy an indulgent cup of warm mocha with family and friends, curl up with a good book or participate in another activity that brings joy - especially in the North and Midwest where we live with reduced sunlight and under a perma-cloud for many months of the year.

A warmer color palette, additional lighting (the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America or IESNA, provides guidance for lighting levels), adding a few throws, cushions and pillows in happy hues can also help create an uplifting atmosphere in your home. Or maybe it's time to ditch the cool gray and sterile white box vibe and replace with a hue that can breathe new life into your home.

Another idea to consider is arranging your furniture around the fireplace while enjoying cozy conversations, board games, puzzles or simple meals around the fire. I personally can remember every fireplace moment as sacred ground. Or perhaps Winter months are are great time to perfect homemade bread or healthy soups or maybe take up another creative endeavor like writing a book or painting.

While it's common for many people to jump into the new year with motivation and energy armed with a lengthy list of what they want to accomplish, you don't have to be one of them. Instead this could be your season for 'cozy cocooning' and gentle living. This isn't about running away. All, the animals and plants step back for a little while to prepare themselves for the next season and find calm over chaos, and so can you. Your well being and personal peace is foundational to your value, your worth and your strength - which is foundational to how you serve & engage with others. I hope you too can choose to step back, accept calm over chaos and find peace in silence.

And, I hope this blog post provided you with the inspiration and design tips to create a space that will rejuvenate you and yours.
